Symptoms

When attempting to Preview a Doc Engine document or Doc Designer document, the following error occurs.

Error in transforming Xml. com.bm.xchange.exceptions.XslValidationException: Validation of this XSL has failed.
Error in processing data. Please modify XSL file.

From the bm.log, an additional error can be seen:

01 Jun 2017 00:00:00,000 [ERROR] com.bm.xchange.util.xsl.XslErrorListener.fatalError(XslErrorListener.java:81) - XSL Error; Line#: 339; Column#: 87
javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: Extra illegal tokens: '$'

Additionally, any existing Printer Friendly XSL files can throw this error as well.

Changes

The environment was upgraded to version 2017 R1.
