Why Journal Approval Notification was actioned but still shows as Pending

Goal
On our First Journal Approval Test, we approved through the Action Button in the Notification Received in the Application but the notification is still active and showing and the next Approval was done from the Notification bell using the approve button without opening the actual notification and this one was correctly discarded. Is there a way first to fix the current active notification to not show since its processed?
