(Doc ID 2422912.1)
Last updated on APRIL 15, 2024
Applies to:
Oracle Commerce Cloud Service - Version 21.1.1 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Details
Oracle supports full database export / import migrations during the pre-launch cutover phases of the customer lifecycle to assist with major changes between environments in support of launch. Note that the requirement for this is that OCC version in the source and target environments are the same.
For full details of and process for Commerce Cloud environment refreshes, please review the policy document attached to this Cloud Customer Connect post: How to Request a Commerce Environment Refresh
For additional platform tools available for moving data and code between environments, see Oracle Commerce Cloud Service FAQ: Migrating from Test to Production (Doc ID 2160094.1) for more information.
Actions
After site is LIVE, Oracle recommends utilizing the following OCC Migration Tools.
Oracle Admin Console Export/Import:
The OCC Admin Console allows you to export products, SKUs, collections, catalogs and inventory so you can work with them outside of Commerce Cloud and easily import changes back into your catalog in any of your environments. More information can be found in Using Oracle Commerce Cloud > Import and Export Catalog Items and Inventory.
Design Code Sync & Transfer:
Commerce Cloud comes a tool called DCU (Developer Code Utility). This tool allows you to transfer code from your local development environment to the Commerce Cloud server and from one Commerce Cloud Server (e.g. TEST) to another Commerce Cloud server (e.g. PROD). When using DCU each developer can grab code from current working environment as a basis to begin development. This tool allows development organizations to support a CI process using a version control solution and appropriate branching strategies. DCU is explained in the Extending Oracle Commerce Cloud > Use the Design Code Utility document. Additionally, customers looking to migrate widget/themes/layouts can also use DCU as per Best Practices for Migrating Widget, Layouts, Theme Data Between Environments, Use DCU and PLSU (Doc ID 2514533.1).
Bulk Import/Export Utility REST APIs:
Most of our customer implementations need to interact with external systems to exchange data or transport data from one Commerce Cloud environment to another. For these, cases Oracle Commerce Cloud includes REST APIs that allow you to select data items and export or import them in bulk. This framework allows you to perform large data transfers between different environments or systems of items such as accounts, profiles, catalogs and promotions. More information can be found on the Extending Oracle Commerce Cloud site. Bulk Export/Import is explained in the Extending Oracle Commerce Cloud > Perform Bulk Export and Import document.
