Is it possible to move the effective start date of an additional assignment to an earlier date without rolling back the payroll processes?

Employees xxx and yyyy  both had additional, secondary assignments added effective 9/3/18 but the assignments should have started effective 8/26/18. The assignment numbers are Exxxx and Eyyyyy-2. Payroll has been processed so I am unable to delete and re-add the assignments with the different date. When I attempt to delete the assignment I receive the error message "Payroll process results exist for this person as of 2018-09-13. (PAY-1636128) The processes run for this person must be rolled back before you can complete the deletion."Is there any other way to correct the assignment start dates? Both of these employees pay has been affected by this issue.
