Goal
Users are implementing Inventory Cloud, which will also include Item definition within Product Data Model and do not have Product Data Hub or Product Information Management Cloud services. Users have defined a couple of Functional Area Catalogs for areas such as Purchasing and Planning. Example for Planning Area the associated catalog can't be hierarchical for the forecasting engine to work (as stated in the Planning Central training course). Purchasing Catalog is also non hierarchical, because Purchasing application itself (and Self Service Procurement) enables to define hierarchies.
1. Can Catalogs from Manage Catalog task be defined in Product Information Management if by using Product Data Model?
2. Can a catalog being defined from "Manage Catalog" task in PIM be associated to a Functional Area from Functional Area catalogs task?
3. Can a Functional Area Catalog be marked as hierarchical, example the one used for Inventory Area without any negative consequences?
4. Is there other limitation to be aware of?
