Logout Functionality Is Not Working In ADF Application On JCS

Symptoms
Logout was not happening on ADF application deployed on JCS. Once logout was performed, secured pages were rendering without explicit authentication challenge from IDP
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Click logout button which invalidates HTTP session
2. Logout doesn't happen
3. If you try to access the protected page, it will render without asking challenge
