How to Update Effective Date of the Salesperson in Manage Resources?

Had about 350-400 contacts that were assigned the role of SalesPerson and the start date was set as 4/25/2019 which was the date they were assigned.  This causes issue when doing invoice/contract conversions and trying to assign the sales rep to theses transactions since the transactions are back dated.
