It is necessary for the Email related settings to be properly configured to avoid possible delays in delivery or failure of delivery
Emails are generated by the application and may be sent from the application to end users within your corporate network, and to candidates, both internal and external. Configuration of the SENDER, FROM and REPLY TO and ESHARE addresses for correspondence generated by the application is generally done during a new client's implementation phase and by submitting a request to Oracle Support.
Ideally, to ensure successful email delivery, the domain name @invalidemail.com in the FromAddress or Sender Email Address company setting should not be changed.
This ensures that the email messages sent from a client's Taleo zone are not identified as spam by the recipient’s spam filter. The @invalidemail.com domain name is registered as a valid email from the IP addresses of Taleo servers.
If clients change the domain name to their own domain name such as @madeupdomain.com, some spam filters will detect that the domain name is not the one registered with the senders IP, and will block the email if the appropriate configurations are not completed as laid out in this document.
Clients who are determined to use their domain name in the From and/or Sender Address fields must add an SPF record to their DNS for @invalidemail.com”, as outlined in this document, which allows email messages to pass through the spam filters.
Clients can put the email addresses they want to use in the ReplyAddress setting but it is Best Practice to use only a valid email address that is monitored for non-delivery and invalid mailbox notifications, etc.
The information covered in this Knowledge Topic applies to any email address setting that has a default domain value of @invalidemail.com
