Purpose

Your own Research and Troubleshooting is a mandatory step before creating a Service Request.

Scope

The main purpose of Oracle Support is to assist customers with issues and errors related to the seeded functionalities delivered by Oracle out-of-the-box.
Oracle Support can assist as well with complex technical questions related to the seeded functionalities delivered by Oracle out-of-the-box.
Oracle Support can't assist with questions, issues or errors related to the topics which are out of the scope of Oracle Support.
As you know, as per the Support Policies, some topics such as 'Mapping business requirements to product functionality' and 'Assisting with Customizations, including page customizations, role customizations, BIP customizations, approval rules customizations, custom extracts, custom fast formulas or any other types of customizations' are out of the scope of Oracle Support and are considered Consultancy Services.

If you are a Consultant who creates Service Requests on behalf of a customer, you should be aware that you are directly responsible to assist the customer to map their business requirements to product functionality, to customize the application as per their needs and to troubleshoot and resolve any issues and errors caused by the setup and customizations you made into the application. If you need any help, please collaborate with a senior consultant.
