Activity Object- Facing issue in the field level trigger

Object- Activity
Field Name- Primary Contact.

Customer trying to write field level trigger for the field 'Primary Contact'. The trigger written for this field is not giving any results.

Even if we give just a throw message on field change, it is not working.
