Not able to invoke inbound WebService , W1-TrackedGeneralAsset using SOAP UI

Could you please let us know if the following scenario is supported:
If a custom IWS is created with an existing Business object without mentioning any specific transaction type, would the operations like ADD and UPDATE be applicable?
