Expense Workflow Notifications

In the test environment enabled the email notification to be sent to the approver daily until the expense was approved. It did not work after it was enabled.

How can users have notifications from being sent to the person that created the expense and the approver until the expense is either submitted for approval or until the approver approves the expense?
