Custom Font Mapping for Report PDF Check Boxes Must be Reapplied After Every Upgrade (Doc ID 2746997.1)

Symptoms

Since upgrading versions a report that prints to PDF does not display the checkbox properly in the PDF.

The field was mapped to a custom wingding font with Font Mappings:

 It works fine when the the field is re-mapped after the upgrade.

How to avoid having to remap the font after every upgrade?
