504 Time Out When User Is Splitting CIP Asset (One To Many)

Symptoms
Additions Workbench, incomplete lines
When user tries to split a CIP Addition (one to Many, for example one to 100+)
After a period of time the user gets presented with error:
A connection to the server has failed (status = 504)
The WLS log shows this detail for the error: The time out is shown in server log, customer confirmed they get it after 5 mins of the split being submitted (300 secs):
