Books Fail Indicating Error on Grid "Grid 1" Related to a Member Referencing a Substitution Variable

Symptoms
Error message similar to
"Column A on grid "Grid 1" has a reference to a Member "&[Sub Var Name]" in dimension "[Dimension Name]" which was not found in data source "[NR Data Source]"
when opening/running Narrative Reporting Books. NOTE: "Grid 1" referenced in the message may not exist in any of the reports used in the book.
Issue may not affect all users.
Changes
User running the book had previously run a Management Reporting report that also uses data source [NR Data Source]. When running the report, the report POV was set to use &[Sub Var Name] for [Dimension Name].
As a result, the user's [NR Data Source] User POV was set to use "&[Sub Var Name]" for dimension "[Dimension Name]."
