"This is not a valid connection name" Error When Using an Externalized Connection (Doc ID 2777899.1)

Symptoms

You are trying to use an externalized connection in your RPD.  However, after making the changes all analyses using the connection pool fail with:

State: HY000. Code: 43119. [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: DSS connection name is specified as <connection_name>. This is not a valid connection name. The connection name should be in the form user.connection-name. (HY000)
