ODI Work Repository Import Running but Never Finishing (Doc ID 2814183.1)

Symptoms

Goal is to migrate an Oracle Data Integrator (ODI)  Repository from on-premise to ODI on Marketplace (MP). - The master repository import worked without issues.
When running the work repository import on the MP side, there is no error message, but ODI doesn't seem to do anything.

To reproduce:

  1. Export a work repository
  2. Transfer the exported zip file to the MP host, ie using secure copy (SCP) in binary mode
  3. Using synonym insert_update mode, select to import a work repository, select the file and import using "synonym insert_update"
    => notice that there is nothing in the standard out
    => notice that there are no messages in Studio "messages log"
