Goal

This document will explain how to access the Boot menu (grub menu) of an Oracle Linux 8 from an OCI image using the serial console.

Unlike previous versions of Oracle Linux OCI images, Oracle Linux 8 image doesn't have the countdown (timeout) to access the Grub menu.

Solution
 Reboot or start the instance.
 After the console screen is blank, there is only one or two seconds to press <escape key>. Press it several times as quickly as possible.
 If escape was pressed successfully, the Boot menu will be displayed, if not try again.
 Note that it is possible that instead of the Boot menu, a BIOS is displayed:
