ACTUAL BEHAVIOR

While importing an XLS file with Resource Assignment information to update a project, P6 adds a new resource with updated values instead of updating the existing resource assignment for activities.

So activities would now have multiple resources, instead of what was defined in XLS file.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

P6 should update existing resource assignment as per Resource Assignment defined in XLS file, and should not add incorrect resource which is not present in XLS file.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

  1. Login to P6 Professional connect to empty DB(SQLite/PPM/EPPM).
  2. Create Project and add an Activity under the project.
  3. Go to Resources View and Sort by Resource ID in Ascending order.
  4. Now create two resources one after the other with Resource ID-500 and 100 (only in this order).
  5. Now change the sorting by Resource ID to hierarchy.
  6. Make Resource with Resource ID-100 as child to Resource with Resource ID-500.
  7. Now Assign Resource with Resource ID-100 to activity created in Step 2.
  8. Export the Project as XLSX and Select only Resource Assignments with default template.
  9. Import the XLSX back to update existing project.
  10. Observe that for activity created in step 2, resource ID-500 also got assigned and activity will now have two resources, which is not expected.
