Symptoms

Using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) fails to connect to a Microsoft SQL Azure 12.0.2000.8 (RTM) database with the following error message:

The same may occur when attempting to connect to a recent version of MS SQL Server database.

A similar error is seen when attempting to reverse-engineer.
