Custom Alert failing to trigger email notifications

Error captured in the Alert history.


oracle.jbo.JboException: getting more than 100 nodes With current group by expression, which is not supported <EMAIL>. please modify the group by expression
at oracle.apps.hcm.common.core.alerts.processing.utils.MessageProcessor.execute(
at oracle.apps.ess.hcm.common.core.alerts.program.HcmResourceAlertMessageBuilder.execute(
at oracle.apps.fnd.applcp.request.exec.AsyncExecutableWrapper.executeHelper(
at oracle.apps.fnd.applcp.request.exec.ExecWrapperBase.execute(

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Tools > Alert Composer > Open custom Alert > Alert History
2. See Error
3. View Log for error message
