We are unable to remove "Allow duplicate records" for M:M relations due to duplicate records

As per 23A Upgrade Release Notes, Administrators can decide if duplicate records are allowed for many-to-many relationships.
After 23A Upgrade, this option is selected by default for existing M:M relationships whereas the following was mentioned in release notes –“Steps to Enable -
To enable duplicate records for many-to-many relationships, select the Allow duplicate records check box when creating or editing a many-to-many relationship in Application Composer.“https://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/tutorial/cloud/r13/wn/engagement/releases/23A/23A-sf-automation-wn.htm#F24443
Due to this change, we are unable to remove "Allow duplicate records" for some of the M:M relationships as under Metadata Manager we're able to view count of duplicate records for such objects. This option was not present earlier but somehow, after upgrade we are able to identify duplicate records dating back from 22/08.

Could we disable this option by default for the upcoming production upgrade?
