Error: "record_status" = "Create Business Process failed reasons, files cannot be attached to upper form." When Attempting To Create New "Text" Type Business Process Record Via Web Services With Attachments (Doc ID 2933316.1)

When attempting to use a REST API call "Create BP record with Attachments" to create "Text" type business process (BP) records with attachments, the response code is 200, but the error message below is being displayed in the REST client:

ERROR: "record_status" = "Create Business Process failed reasons, files cannot be attached to upper form."

When trying to "updateBPRecord" and add the attachments to the BP record created above, there is a response code 200.  When opening the created record and reviewing the Audit Log the attachments are listed in the log.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Configure the REST client to "Create BP record with attachments" for a "Text" type business process.
  2. Send the REST call to attempt the creation of the BP record with attachments.
  3. The REST client displays the error noted above.
  4. Send REST call to update the same BP record with the attachments, once again response code 200.
