Goal

Sometimes, business can have some requirements like - they want to change the default value of the Domain Name dropdown field on any Data Entry screen/manager layout.

This can be needed for multiple business scenarios, like-

For a Company, OTM Master Data are kept on Business Domain BD. They also use Planning and Shipment Modules in OTM. Their Service Provider details is maintained on SERVPROV Domain as per standard OTM functionality.

As per business need, Service Provider users have access to Create and Copy Voyages in OTM from their login itself.

Now, once a Service Provider user navigate to Create or Copy Voyage screen and trying to enter the required data for that, they can see- the Domain Name dropdown defaults with the value as SERVPROV. So, if they enter the required information and click on Finish button- it will create the Voyage in SERVPROV domain. As a result, that Voyage will not be accessible for further use in regular Transactions.

To eliminate this problem/observation, Service Providers always need to manually change the Domain Name to Business Domain BD from default value of SERVPROV. However, sometimes, they may forget to change the correct value and it creates wrong data. So, this is an extra thing need to do every time they are going to Create/Copy a voyage.

So, from the business side, the requirement can be to make the Domain Name dropdown value to be defaulted with BD instead of SERVPROV.

How to change the default value of 'Domain Name' dropdown field in any OTM data entry screen?
