Symptoms

Pod(s) have been deleted and remains in a Terminating status for a long time (more than a few seconds), or a longer time than is expected.

When running a kubectl get pods command, you will see a similar result like this in the output for the problematic pod(s):

Changes

This can happen because:

  1. The pod has a finalizer associated with it that is not completing
  2. The pod is not responding to termination signals
