Accidentally Set and Unset Instance Vanity Domain Url, Does Not Automatically Fallback to Site Domain Url

Symptoms
Accidentally set and unsetting instance Vanity Domain url breaks Site Domain url ( www.somewebsite.com no longer works and returns 404 ).
See below scenario:
a. Implemented site Akamai domain url ( www.somewebsite.com ), and was working.
b. In OCM > Settings > Domain screen, accidentally set the same domain for the instance, and then unsets the domain from this screen
c. However afterwards, the www.somewebsite.com no longer works, and returns 404
d. After unsetting domain url in OCM > Settings > Domain screen, OCM did not automatically fall back to Site Domain url functionality
