"Error 401 Unauthorized" When Using Project Integration Framework (PIF) to Send REST API Calls to Primavera Unifier (Doc ID 2993276.1)

Last updated on MARCH 07, 2024

Applies to:

Primavera Unifier Cloud Service - Version 23.11 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When using Project Integration Framework (PIF) to send a series of REST API calls to Unifier, the web services will occasionally fail with "Error 401 Unauthorized" errors.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
All of the REST API calls should be consistently successful and not result in intermittent 401 Unauthorized errors.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Configure PIF to send a series of REST API calls to Unifier in series. The jobs may contain "get UDR Data", "Update BP Record' or "Create BP Record" calls in series.
  2. Occasionally PIF will generate a Failure message and upon investigation the error coming back from Unifier was a 401 Unauthorized error.
  3. The Integration User authorization token is reset to a new value and subsequent REST API calls are successful again until it fails again for the same error.
