Request To Know What's Involved In Starting The Data Replication Process To RDS From Our Instances. (Doc ID 3011760.1)

Last updated on MARCH 21, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Retail Data Storage Cloud Service - Version NA and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Recently provisioned with RDS for our instances and have begun activating them as described in the implementation guide. Before requesting the initial data load, and then the activation of the GG replication (two extra steps indicated in the implementation guide as being driven by a request from the client side), request to know what is involved with those requests. That is:

1) Is downtime required for the source system to get the initial data load?
2) Is downtime required to activate the data synch, once the initial data load is in place?
3) How much lead time is required in order to effect these changes?
4) Are the replicated tables/views the same in RDS as they are in DAS?
5) Are ALL the data tables available for replication activated at the beginning, or is a subset activated initially and the client needs to request the additional tables be added to the replication streams?
