Symptoms
When attempting to execute a custom extract, the following error occurs.
ERROR

Excerpt from the extract's log file: EXT_PAYROLL_INFORMATION_..., line 29, no data returned.
Details: Item PAYROLL_NAME returned no data. This error most commonly occurs when a database item query returns no data, but the database item is configured not to allow no return data. It can also occur within a formula function call.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Run extract.
2. Check the status of the run.
