Error: "Bad alias/connection name. SAML SSO authentication failed" When Attempting to Login to P6 Professional Using SSO (Doc ID 3028871.1)

Symptoms

After a new alias configuration is created (with the 'Use SAML SSO' box checked), the Single Sign On window opens during login, but, the following error occurs:

ERROR

Bad alias/connection name. SAML SSO authentication failed.

This issue can be reproduced at will using the following steps:

1. Click the Edit database configurations? link on the login page.
2. Highlight the new database alias.
3. Check the Use SAML SSO box, then click Save.
4. Click the Test button to verify it is successful.
5. Attempt to login to P6 Professional.
6. Observe the reported error.
