ORA-00344: WHEN RESIZING YOUR REDO LOGS (Doc ID 1018307.102)

Symptoms

You are trying to resize your redo logs within the controlfile. After recreating your controlfile you try to open the database with the resetlogs option and and receive the following error:

    ORA-344 I/O error
    "unable to recreate online log"

You may have also received an error indicating that the create controlfile failed, similar to the following:

    ORA-01503: CREATE CONTROLFILE failed
    ORA-01163: SIZE clause indicates xxxx (blocks) but should match header yyyy
    ORA-01517: log member: 'path location & name of member;
