Why Are Controlfile Entries For Archived Logs Not Overwritten After CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME? (Doc ID 1056085.1)

Symptoms

The setting for CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME does not seem to affect the entries in section 11 (Archived Log) of the controlfiles

For example

If CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME = 30 (days) ... why are the Archived Log entries in the controlfile (as seen by V$ARCHIVED_LOG) not overwritten after 30 days?
