Symptoms

Running Oracle Release 10gR2 version 10.2.0.4

Using DBCA to create a new General Purpose Database (which includes seed datafiles)

When trying to establish a database with a Character set of AL32UTF8, the following error is reported in the CloneDBCreation.log and Alert log files.

   alter database character set INTERNAL_CONVERT AL32UTF8
   *
   ERROR at line 1:
   ORA-12712: new character set must be a superset of old character set 

Changes

 Applied the 10.2.0.4 Patchset
