RDBPROD: TRUNCATE TABLE or DROP INDEX May Leave Wasted Space
(Doc ID 1154195.1)
Last updated on FEBRUARY 26, 2019
Applies to:Oracle Rdb Server on OpenVMS - Version 188.8.131.52 to 184.108.40.206 [Release 7.2]
HP OpenVMS Itanium
HP OpenVMS Alpha
When performing a TRUNCATE TABLE or a DROP INDEX on a HASHED INDEX stored in mixed-format area, not all buckets for records are effectively removed.
This may lead to wasted space on a page. New INSERTs may not find enough space on a page and overflow records need to be created, which may lead to declining performance.
This problem occurs only under Rdb 220.127.116.11, on both Alpha and Itanium
