Symptoms

Attempting to create an ASM diskgroup fails since we detect duplicate disks for the same device.

Creation statement is ->

CREATE DISKGROUP TKTRN_DATA EXTERNAL REDUNDANCY
DISK '/dev/raw/raw21'

Fails with ->

ORA-15018: diskgroup cannot be created
ORA-15020: discovered duplicate ASM disk "EMCPOWERS1"

Changes

Raw Mapping is being used, we can verify the raw maps with ->

% raw -qa

< this will list the major / minor's for the devices being mapped>
