Symptoms

Using one of the following methods
to describe columns of type Number(Precision,Scale) added by a statement like

ALTER TABLE <table_name> ADD (<column_name> NUMBER (P,S))

will return wrong Type (Only ODBC - SQL_FLOAT/SQL_DOUBLE returned instead SQL_DECIMAL ),  Precision  and Scale (ODBC and PL/SQL)




Changes

Upgrading DB from pre-11gR1(10.2.0.5 and lower) to 11gR1 (11.1.0.X) or 11gR2 (11.2.0.1).
