Last updated on JANUARY 30, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Universal Installer - Version 11.2.0.1 and later
Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)

Symptoms

Installing Oracle Client 11.2 32-bit and Oracle Client 64-bit on the same Windows x64 system . The second installation overwrites the Programs menu entry from the 32bit installation.

Steps:
1. Install Oracle Client 32-bit on Windows X64. One Programs menu entry is created e called Oracle>OraClient11g_home1.

2. Install Oracle Client 64-bit into a different ORACLE_HOME on the same system. A new entry is not created on the Programs menu, but instead the existing Programs menu entry Oracle OraClient11g_home1 now points to the 64-bit installation. The 32-bit shortcut has been overwritten.

The registry entries are ok.
