OpenVMS: Parallel Query Hangs in sskgmrf_unmaprange in RAC (Doc ID 1299652.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 04, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.5 [Release 10.2]
HP OpenVMS Alpha
HP OpenVMS Itanium

Symptoms

Running Oracle 10gR2 on the OpenVMS operating system.

Parallel Operations (like parallel query, parallel statisctics gethering) can result in one of the related PQ Slave hanging.

The process state of the hung slave process shows that the hang appears in the Oracle function sskgmrf_unmaprange.

However, above the Oracle function there are a number of OpenVMS functions which when translated using SDA MAP commands on the given machine indicate that the OS call stack is:

sskgmrf_unmaprange -->   C$MMAP\munmap -->   C$MMAP\msync -->    sys$updsec_64w --> EXE_STD$SYNCH_LOOP --> SYS$WAITFR --> sch$ast_outermode
