How to reload XS without re-installing XML Database (XDB) (Doc ID 1308696.1)

Symptoms

While upgrading database, it is seen that there are missing or malformed XS$ objects in the database, yet in dba_registry the XDB component is VALID:

SQL> grant delete on XDB.XS$PRINCIPALS to olap_xs_admin;
grant delete on XDB.XS$PRINCIPALS to olap_xs_admin
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

SQL> grant select on XDB.XS$DATA_SECURITY to olap_xs_admin;
grant select on XDB.XS$DATA_SECURITY to olap_xs_admin
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
