Oracle ODBC Driver Configuration: Net Service Name Drop Down List Is Not Fully Qualified
(Doc ID 1338088.1)
Last updated on MARCH 04, 2022
Applies to:
Oracle ODBC Driver - Version 10.2.0.4 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
In the sqlnet.ora there is: NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN = <domain name>
In the TNSnames.ora there are entries from other domains such as: <some other domain name> =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =...
When an ODBC DSN is configured however, the drop down list box for TNS service names has only the first segment of the entry name that gets populated.
In this case, ORCL would be used. This results in a service not found error since the drop down box does not offer the entire fully qualified entry.
