Exadata: ORA-00700: soft internal error, arguments: [main_6c], [3], [Invalid IP addresses in cellinit.ora file] (Doc ID 1341062.1)

Symptoms

Cellsrv will not start on storage cell:

# service celld start

Starting the RS, CELLSRV, and MS services...
Getting the state of RS services...
running
Starting CELLSRV services...
The STARTUP of CELLSRV services was not successful. Error: Start Failed



Cell alert log has the following info logged:

Failed to initialize skgxpstats context, skgxpcini_with_stats() error returned, rval = 2
This is most likely because the IP addresses in cellinit.ora are wrong, but please read the following messages for additional information
slos Error Category: 1
Operation: bind_fail
Location: skgxpvifconf
DepInfo: Error 0
Error Code: 0
OtherInfo: requested interface <IPADDRESS> failed bind. Check output from ifconfig command
CELLSRV failed to start due to the error 3 (Invalid IP addresses in cellinit.ora file)

ORA-00700: soft internal error, arguments: [main_6c], [3], [Invalid IP addresses in cellinit.ora file], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], []


You've confirmed the settings in $OSSCONF/cellinit.ora are correct.
($OSSCONF =/opt/oracle/cell<version>/cellsrv/deploy/config)

The output of 'ifconfig -a' shows infiniband interface '<INFINIBANDNAME>' but no physical infiniband interfaces '<PHYSICAL_INTERFACE_0>' or '<PHYSICAL_INTERFACE_1>' created.

or

The ifconfig doesn't show "RUNNING" for the ib interface:

Check the /var/log/messages for the ib failure messaging:

Changes

It's possible that previous hardware maintenance was just performed on this server.

It's possible that there is a media server connected to the Exadata rack.
