Symptoms

An 'alter database open;' fails with errors as below:

$ strings spfiledb.ora
...
*.db_recovery_file_dest='/backup/10g/db/flash_recovery_area'
*.db_recovery_file_dest_size=2147483648
...


$ sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
