Symptoms

ORA-00001 error is caught in the alert log while writing to a trace file, e.g.

Wed Aug 10 10:52:16 2011
Non critical error ORA-00001 caught while writing to trace file "<path>/<SID>_ora_12345.trc"
Error message: SVR4 Error: 9: Bad file number
Additional information: 1
Writing to the above trace file is disabled for now on...
...
