Symptoms

Query Rewrite may not occur in presence of redundant joins.
dbms_mview.Explain_Rewrite may show messages as:

MESSAGE
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QSM-01150: query did not rewrite
QSM-01123: self-join algorithm could not resolve multiple instances
QSM-01284: materialized view XXX has an anchor table YYY 
not found in query
QSM-01072: materialized view, XXX, and query have different
joins between tables, ZZZ and YYY
