Active Directory Plug-In does not Allow for Passwords with Special Characters (Doc ID 1378066.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 06, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Secure Enterprise Search - Version 10.1.8.4 to 11.1.2.2
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The environment uses Oracle SES 10.1.8.4 and the AD plug-in.
The system in question has multiple sources - NTFS and SQL Server.
When a user has a special character in his AD password, such as &, ! or $, he is denied access to the SES query tool.
His credentials are removed from the screen and an 'Invalid Login' error message appears.

The workaround which is then being used for this issue is to have the users change their AD password and remove any special characters.

Steps to reproduce:
Update Active Directory password so that it includes a special character, such as &, ! or $.
Try to login to SES and get the error 'Invalid Login' on the SES User Interface.

Changes

The password policy recently changed in order to allow for special characters in the passwords.
