Purpose

  As introduced in Oracle9i, the database buffer cache can be composed of 7 sub-caches.
  This note answers the following questions:
  - Which buffer caches are initialized and available for tablespace creation with different block sizes?
  - What is the global size of the database buffer cache?

Scope

  For DBAs using the Multiple Block Size new feature in Oracle9i which enables the creation of tablespaces with different block sizes.
