Example of an External Procedure Call that Returns a REF CURSOR (Doc ID 1460826.1)

Last updated on MARCH 04, 2022

Applies to:

PL/SQL - Version 10.2.0.5 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Although there is not much use for developing new application code using external procedures that perform SQL operations, there is the occasional need to migrate an existing C application that already contains OCI (or Pro*C) and sometimes that involves passing a ref cursor. There has been a doc bug thru 11gR2 that indicated this was not supported so no sample code existed.

Goal

Provide an example of an external procedure that returns a ref_cursor / sys_refcursor.
