Symptoms
During a Grid Infrastructure (GI) PSU install (11.2.0.3 or later) or when installing the CVUQDISK package of the Oracle Cluster Verification Utility (CVU), errors similar to the following are reported :
$ rpm -ivh /oracle/product/grid/software/grid/grid/rpm/cvuqdisk-1.0.9-1.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
ls: /usr/sbin/smartctl: No such file or directory
/usr/sbin/smartctl not found.
error: %pre(cvuqdisk-1.0.9-1.x86_64) scriptlet failed, exit status 1
error: install: %pre scriptlet failed (2), skipping cvuqdisk-1.0.9-1
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
ls: /usr/sbin/smartctl: No such file or directory
/usr/sbin/smartctl not found.
error: %pre(cvuqdisk-1.0.9-1.x86_64) scriptlet failed, exit status 1
error: install: %pre scriptlet failed (2), skipping cvuqdisk-1.0.9-1
If these errors are encountered as part of the GI install, they are not fatal and can be ignored to allow the GI install to complete.
However, you should still consider adopting the solution to ensure that CVU is installed correctly.
