Goal

A number of issues have been identified when duplicating databases that use BCT. Note 1098638.1 list most of the common issues encountered thus far.

In most work-arounds, the BCT file as identified in the source database's controlfile must pre-exist at the auxiliary site before initiating the duplicate. You may create a dummy file in its location to meet this requirement. As the BCT location is only kept in the controlfile, you need to be mindful of its location when performing a point in time duplicate. If you have been changing the source database's BCT file location/name, you may get caught out!
