In v2.0.1 Mammoth Software Release Some HUE Components Fail or HUE Super User Shows Misconfiguration Error (Doc ID 1520564.1)

Symptoms

While trying to access HUE components below errors are encountered

a) Trying to open File Browser fails with:

Server Error (500)

b) If HUE Configuration points to the right Active Namenode, then File Browser opens fine but trying to open file even as the owner fails with below error.

'Failed to read file.'

 

c) Clicking on a JobId in Job Browser also fails with:

Server Error (500)

d) As HUE super user, when you click the red button on the top row OR clicking on the word 'HUE' and then clicking on 'Check for misconfiguration', will show 'Failed to access filesystem root' error.

 

Here is the error shown ...

Configuration files located in /etc/hue

Potential misconfiguration detected. Please fix and restart HUE.

hadoop.hdfs_clusters.default.webhdfs_url     Current value: http://<HOST>.<DOMAIN>:50070/webhdfs/v1
                                                      Failed to access filesystem root

 

e) Also below misconfiguration error will be seen even though HUE Configuration points to the right Active Namenode.

Failed to create temporary file "/tmp/hue_config_validation.<###########>"

 

f) Trying to create a HUE user with 'Create home directory' option as below:

Fails with below error:

Cannot make home directory for user <USERNAME>
